Design Process

Getting Started

Often times our clients will call or come in to our showroom with a need or want but just don’t know where or how to begin. Don’t worry, we will discuss your concerns and needs to help you get your project off the ground.

Kick-off Meeting

Before meeting with one of our design professionals, you may wish to write down the issues with your current space and your desires for your new space.

Designers are investigators who ask the right questions and take clues and cues from a client so that they may work with them to create the space they want and need. We will discuss your likes and dislikes with your existing kitchen, bath or whole-home renovation.

  • Is your space is looking tired or outdated?
  • Are you in need of more organizational space to keep your home from always looking cluttered?
  • Is your family out growing your space?
  • Is your layout inefficient?

We can help you find your new style, update your space and achieve efficiency and harmony in your home.

Home Visit and Measurements

After the initial visit, one of our designers will visit your space so that we may take an inventory of existing furniture, cabinetry, lighting, and additional items that need to be incorporated into the new plan. Measurements will be recorded at this time and photos will be taken for future use.

An assessment of the space is also completed to provide our staff with the information necessary to provide you with a quotation for the work involved in renovating your space. Should you wish our firm to proceed with designing a plan for your home, a design fee is collected.

The fee will range from $350 to $750 depending on the size of the project.

Design Review

Typically, another meeting would take place in a few weeks. At this meeting, the designer will present their drawings to you. You would then work with the designer to fine tune the design plans until a final plan is achieved.

Based on the agreed scope of work and the estimated cost of goods, a contract for our design and renovation services is prepared and presented to you. Generally, a deposit of 50% will be collected at this time. An interim payment of 40% will be collected upon substantial completion of the work and your final 10% will be collected upon completion of your project.

Material Selection

Your designer will work within your specific budget to assist you in choosing quality products and materials that meet your needs to create a delicate balance of functional space and aesthetics — reflecting your lifestyle and personality.

We will assist you in creating a comfortable atmosphere that is safe and aesthetically pleasing using colour, texture, lighting, furniture and other interesting materials. We can even help you incorporate old family heirlooms with treasured new pieces in a complimentary and cohesive way.

Installation

Our designers generally work with one project manager from start to finish to help guide you through the entire renovation process.

Our Project Managers will insure that all work is done to code. They are skilled professionals who understand building and fire codes and can assist you in obtaining required permits. They are your liaison to architects, electricians, carpenters, masons, plumbers, building contractors etc.

Your project manager can interpret and execute your blueprints or layouts and will provide quality craftsmen who are licensed and insured to complete your renovation.

Together, our skilled team will work with you to achieve the space of your dreams.
